While I was watching the Royal Wedding (live from the West Coast) I was able to finish my sweet mom’s bookmark. The finishing directions call for Therm O web HeatnBond UltraHold fusible backing. I was able to find it in a little package by the Notions Department at my local fabric store. It was inexpensive and has enough for many more bookmarks.
The directions were so easy to follow. After I applied the backing to the stitched linen, I carefully cut around my stitches on the cutting line that the chart called for. Cutting so close to my stitching was unnerving because I was afraid to make a mistake. But I did start and after the first inch or two of cutting, I was on a roll.
The last step was adhering the felt. That was a breeze. I made sure the linen was really stuck to the felt, so I had to iron a bit more than the 2 – 5 seconds in the directions. I gave it to my sweet mom for her birthday. She loved it! I had a lot of fun making it. I think now I’m going to make some for my daughters’ teachers as end-of-the-year gifts.
