Basha and I recently attended the TNNA trade show in Columbus, Ohio. There were a lot of Needlepoint Canvases on display. A LOT. I was more interested in the fibers and flosses at first, but when I saw the Treglown booth with the new Kooler Design Studio hand-painted canvases, I started looking more closely at the canvases. And, I decided then and there to break out of my counted-thread-on-fabric mold and learn needlepoint.
I have some stitches in on my first canvas and I am beginning to see what the differences between cross stitch and needlepoint are. Needlepoint is not as easy as I might have thought! It requires different techniques to stitch on canvas than it does to stitch on fabric. I am going to pick out most of my first stitches because I am finally getting the hang of it and I can see my initial errors!
If you are a beginning needlepointer, you might want to try out the Rose Needlepoint Kit. It is designed by Barbara Baatz Hillman and has her trademark dewdrop included. It’s a simple project.
If you are a long-term needlepointer, look for the latest stitch-painted canvases from Treglown Designs that feature KDS designs at your local needlecraft shop. If you don’t see them, ask for them by name!
